MR. GARY LYLES WAS INTERVIEWED ON 10/12/95 AT THE SHERIFF'S
DEPARTMENT ON SYCAMORE STREET AT 5:50 P.M. BY LT. JAMES G. BRYANT.
MR LYLES SAID ONE TIME HE WAS THE OWNER OF LYLES BUILDING MATERIAL
ON LEE STREET GREENSBORO. HE SAID IN MARCH 0F 1994 HE SOLD HIS
BUSINESS TO TED AND PAT KIMBLE. HE HAS KNOWN TED KIMBLE SINCE HE WAS
A YOUNG BOY. MR
KIMBLE, TED'S FATHER, WAS A FAMILY FRIEND AS WELL AS THE PASTOR OF
HIS CHURCH. ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO MR. LYLES HIRED TED TO WORK AT THE
BUILDING MATERIAL BUSINESS DURING THE TIME HE WAS WORKING THERE TED
WAS A GOOD EMPLOYEE ONE THAT COULD BE TRUSTED. TED HAD TALKED FOR
SEVERAL YEARS ABOUT BUYING THE BUSINESS WHEN MR. LYLES RETIRED. TED
HAD MANY GIRLFRIENDS, HE WAS A REAL LADY'S MAN. I THINK HE WAS
ENGAGED ABOUT 4 TIMES BEFORE HE MET PAT BLAKLEY. I TOLD TED I
WOULND'T SELL HIM THE BUSINESS UNTIL HE SETTLED DOWN AND COULD LEARN
TO HANDLE MONEY. I ALSO TOLD HIM HE SHOULD MARRY SOMEONE THAT COULD
HELP HIM BECAUSE SOME OF THE GIRLS HE DATED WERE LIKE STREETWALKERS.
TED STARTED DATING PAT BLAKLEY AND I REALLY LIKED HER. SHE WAS THE
ONE I HOPED TED WOULD MARRY. I TOLD TED I WOULD SELL HIM THE
BUSINESS IF HE MARRIED PAT, I KNEW SHEA
COULD HELP HIM SETTLE DOWN. IN MARCH OF 1994 I SOLD TED THE BUSINESS
FOR $50,000.00 AND THERE WAS JUST ABOUT THAT MUCH STOCK ON HAND AT
THAT TIME. HE BORROWED $25,000.00 FROM HIS FATHER AND I LET HIM MAKE
ME PAYMENTS ON THE OTHER $25,000.00. ON THE DAY WE CLOSED THE DEAL
THERE WAS JUST A LITTLE OVER $11,500.00 IN THE BUSINESS ACCOUNT AND
I GAVE HALF OF THAT TO TED TO GET HIM STARTED.
ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO I WALKED INTO MY HOUSE AND MY WIFE ROSE WAS
TALKING TO PAT. MY WIFE SAID PAT WAS UPSET AND CRYING AND WANTED TO
TALK WITH ME. PAT TOLD ME TED HAD TAKEN OUT A BIG INSURANCE POLICY
ON

HER AND HAD
NOT TOLD HER ABOUT IT. HE WAS ALSO SLEEPING WITH A GUN UNDER HIS
PILLOW. HE WAS WANTING TO BUY A MOTORCYCLE AND RUN AROUND WITH SOME
OF HIS FRIENDS ON HIGH POINT ROAD. SHE WAS AFRAID TED WAS GOING TO
KILL HER.
SHE WANTED
ME TO TALK WITH TED ABOUT ALL OF THE ABOVE ITEMS. WE MADE PLANS TO
GO TO A MARRIAGE RETREAT AT RIDGECREST ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1995
AND I WOULD TALK WITH HIM AT THAT TIME.
TED KIMBLE
HAD TALKED WITH AN INSURANCE AGENT HARVEY APPLE WHO LIVES ON DONNER
ROAD IN JULIAN.
TED'S BEST
FRIEND IS PATRICK PARDEE. PHONE 674-3360.
JACK LONG WHO WORKS FOR PEERLESS WAS IN THE OFFICE SOMETIME AFTER 3
