Report, T. C. Childrey (SBI):  Interview, Louise Cato (Camp Lejeune)

RPI (E6) Cato was interviewed in an office or the Naval. Criminal Investigative Services at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina 28547, on Tuesday, March 4, 1997, by NCIS Investigator G. Gregory Munroe, Guilford County Detective Chad F. Sibert, and Criminal Specialist T. C. Childrey from 10:04 a.m. to 12 noon.

Ms. Cato was interviewed reference any information she might have pertaining to Ronnie Lee Kimble, a member of the United States Marine Corps assigned to the Chaplain's Office at Camp Lejeune. Ms. Cato gave the following statement:

That she has known Ronnie Kimble since he was assigned to the Chaplain's Office, and that Ronnie had previously been a duty driver and was assigned now as an assistant to the Protestant chaplain since September or October 1996.

Further, that one day Ronnie was discussing the death of his sister-in-law with Natalie Kelly, an accounting specialist assigned to the Chaplain's Office. It was during this conversation that Ms. Cato overheard Ronnie tell Ms. Kelly that his sister-in-law had been found dead in her house, and that a gun and a chest of tools had been found near the burned body. Ronnie had related that the police were saying that Ronnie's brother was responsible for the death and that this was not true since Ted, the brother, was at work. Ronnie also stated that he, Ronnie, was supposedly the last person to see his sister-in-law alive because he, Ronnie, had gone to her house to either pick up something or drop something off.

Somewhere in the conversation, the topic of insurance was brought up and she, Cato, asked if there was a lot of insurance

and that this could have caused the police to be looking at this case,. and Ronnie said that there was not a lot of insurance.

Ms. Cato also related that Ronnie was what she termed a Bible-thumper and this is a person who puts his beliefs on everybody but that since the death of his sister-in-law, Ronnie has not discussed religion as much.

The only person that Ms. Cato could think of that might have information about Ronnie was a corporal with the last name beginning with a "C" or a "K."

Ronnie has related to her, Cato, that he likes to deer hunt, he has a gun, and that she, Cato, could not see how a person reporting to be a Christian can go and kill animals.

Ms. Cato also remembered that in the discussion about the tool chest, she asked Ronnie why the person did not take the tools and Ronnie said that the person might have gotten scared off and ran out the back door leaving the house.

Sometime after this, Ronnie was given time off to secure the services of a lawyer. Ronnie had an attitude problem in that he has an ego problem and wants to be perfect. Once Ronnie called her, Cato, and made a more or less order for the services of a PFC Dziadaszek to assist him and that she, Cato, informed Ronnie that he would have to go through the proper channels.
