Interview, John Appel (GCSD):  Interview, Brenda Flores

Ted Kimble's handwritten notes are added as footnotes.

Guilford County Sheriff's Department
Supplemental Report

1. Incident Number: 951009027
2. Victim's Name: Kimble, Patricia
3. Day/Date/Time of Report: Mon Oct 16 09:49:06 EDT 1995 -

4. Narrative: On 10/10/95 I went to Precision Fabrics Group and spoke with Brenda
Flores, employee.

Ms. Flores says that she is normally responsible for observing persons who ring the gate buzzer to be let into the parking lot after the gate is closed. However, she says that on 10/9/95 the gate was broken, and was left in the open position.A She says she believes the gate had been broken since 10/5/95.

Ms. Flores says that she monitors a camera positioned at the gate when people use the buzzer, but was not paying particular attention on he night of 10/9/95 since she did not have to identify or allow
entrance to persons due to the gate malfunction. Ms. Flores says that a lot of traffic went through the gate on 10/9/95, and she does not recall any specific vehicles entering or exiting.

5. Reporting Officer/Assignment: Det. John Appel, Major Crimes

AWhen I arrived at 6 pm the gate was open, but when I left I had to hit the button so the gate would open and I could leave.  The gate is left open during shift changes, then closed during working hours.  I remember because it was the first time I recall ever having to hit the button.
