THE GUY. HE SAID RUBIN CONFIRMED HE KNEW THE GENTLEMAN AND THAT HE DID DATE PATRICIA AT ONE TIME. LCPL KIMBLE SAID HE WAS UNABLE TO RECALL THE GUYS NAME. LCPL KIMBLE SAID LATER THAT HE TOLD THE STORY TO, HE BELIEVES, HIS FATHER WHO ALERTED THE POLICE. HE SAID THEY (POLICE) CLAIMED HE WAS NOT A SUSPECT, BUT WOULD BE NOW.

LCPL KIMBLE WAS ASKED IF PATRICIA WORKED, AND THAT IS WHY HER CAR WAS NOT IN THE DRIVEWAY. HE ADVISED PATRICIA WAS A MANAGER AT AN
APARTMENT COMPLEX. HE CLAIMED THAT QUESTION REMINDED HIM THAT HE HEARD SHE HAD GOTTEN SOME DEATH THREATS FROM TENANTS SHE HAD TO EVICT (NF/). LCPL KIMBLE SAID HIS PARENTS TOLD HIM OF THE THREATS.  LCPL KIMBLE SAID HE DEPARTED TED'S HOUSE AND WENT BACK HOME. WHEN HE GOT HOME, HE STARTED THE UNDER SKIRTING. JAMES STUMP, CAME BY FOR A SHORT TIME. HE SAID HE STATED FOR A BOUT 15 MINUTES AND LEFT. LCPL KIMBLE SAID A SHORT TIME LATER HIS WIFE CAME HOME, BUT DOES NOT RECALL THE EXACT TIME. HE SAID THE REST OF THE EVENING HE SPENT WITH HIS WIFE. LCPL KIMBLE SAID HE SEEMED TO RECALL THAT THEY WENT OUT TOGETHER SOMETIME THAT EVENING, BUT HE CANNOT BE SURE. HE SAID THEY WENT TO BED EARLY, AS HE WAS PLANNING TO GET UP AROUND 0600 FOR HIS DRIVE BACK TO CAMP LEJEUNE, NC. HE SAID HE NEEDED TO REPORT FOR WORK AT 1200 ON 10OCT95. JUST AS THEY WERE IN BED, NOT QUITE ASLEEP, HE RECEIVED THE PHONE CALL MENTIONED IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS REPORTS ABOUT THE FIRE AT TED'S HOUSE.

LCPL KIMBLE WAS ASKED HOW HE COULD RECALL HIS DAY IN SUCH DETAIL; AFTER ALL, IT HAD BEEN THREE WEEKS. HE SAID NORMALLY HE WOULD NOT HAVE REMEMBERED, BUT HE WAS NERVOUS ABOUT BEING INTERVIEWED. HE THOUGHT HE MIGHT BE A SUSPECT BECAUSE HE WAS OVER THE HOUSE AND HAD BOUGHT SOME GASOLINE THE DAY OF THE MURDER. HE ASSUMED THE POLICE WOULD AUTOMATICALLY THINK HE WAS A SUSPECT. LCPL KIMBLE ADVISED HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH PATRICIA'S DEATH. LCPL KIMBLE ADVISED HE ONLY WISHED HE COULD HAVE COME BY THE HOUSE LATER IN THE DAY AND MAYBE COULD HAVE STOPPED THE KILLING.

DURING THE INTERVIEW LCPL KIMBLE WAS ASKED WHAT HE KNEW ABOUT PATRICIA'S MURDER. HE ADVISED HE WAS TOLD THAT SHE WAS THE BODY FOUND IN TED'S HOUSE, AND THAT ONLY AFTER THE AUTOPSY WERE THEY SURE IT WAS PATRICIA. HE SAID DURING THE AUTOPSY THEY ALSO
DISCOVERED THAT SHE HAD BEEN SHOT IN THE HEAD. HE SAID HE HEARD HIS BROTHER'S GUN WAS FOUND BESIDES PATRICIA'S BODY AND ASSUMED THAT WAS THE MURDER WEAPON. HE SAID HE HEARD THAT THE MURDERED INTENTIONALLY SET THE FIRE IN THE HOUSE. HE SAID THE PERSON POURED GASOLINE OVER THE INSIDE, LEAVING A TRAIL OF GASOLINE TO THE FRONT DOOR WHERE HE PRESUMED THE PERSON SET THE FIRE. HE SAID THE GAS CAN BELONGED TO HIS BROTHER. LCPL KIMBLE SAID THAT IS ALL HE KNEW FROM OFFICIAL REPORTS.*

LCPL KIMBLE WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION AND THE INTERVIEW WAS TERMINATED. LCPL KIMBLE WAS TOLD THAT THERE MIGHT BE ADDITIONAL INTERVIEWS REQUESTED BY EITHER REPORTING AGENT OR POLICE OFFICIALS CONDUCTING THE INVESTIGATION. LCPL KIMBLE SAID HE WOULD MAKE HIMSELF AVAILABLE ANY TIME.

INVESTIGATIVE ACTION: RESULTS OF INTERVIEW. SILVERTHORN

On 13JUN96, CPL Neil Donald SILVERTHORN, USMC, Classified Files Unit, G-1, HQCO; 2NDMARDIV, Camp Lejeune, NC (CLNC), was interviewed at NCISFO Camp Lejeune, relative to his association with a fellow marine, and former roommate, LCPL Ronnie L. KIMBLE, USMC, Chaplin's office, MCB, CLNC.

CPL SILVERTHORN advised he has known LCPL KIMBLE since circa OCT93. CPL SILVERTHORN reported they were assigned together, and for periods of time shared a barracks room, while at India company, 3/2, 2DMARDIV, CLNC, for approximately 2 years. He advised they became friends, and even though they are no longer in the same unit, they still maintain a friendship.

CPL SILVERTHORN reported he has accompanied LCPL KIMBLE to his residence in Greensboro, NC, on several occasions. He could not recall on how many occasions, but said it was between 5 and 10 times. The last time CPL SILVERTHORN said he stayed with LCPL KIMBLE was about 3 weeks ago. CPL SILVERTHORN advised when he accompanies LCPL KIMBLE they always stay at his trailer. However, CPL SILVERTHORN advised he did stay at LCPL KIMBLE'S parents residence on one occasion prior to LCPL KIMBLE'S marriage.

CPL SILVERTHORN was asked about his whereabouts on or about 09OCT95. He advised he had just returned from a three-month deployment to Cuba on or about 06OCT95. He advised when he returned he went directly on leave to his home in Kentucky. CPL SILVERTHORN denied seeing and or being in the area of LCPL KIMBLE'S residence during that time frame. CPL SILVERTHORN advised however, sometime during his stay at home, he received a call from LCPL KIMBLE. He said LCPL KIMBLE was very upset. He said his sister-in-law was murdered. He told me whomever did it was a cold blooded killer. CPL SILVERTHORN advised he does not recall anything else about the conversation.

CPL SILVERTHORN was asked if he had ever been to LCPL KIMBLE'S sister-in-laws residence. He said yes, but it was only after the murder. He advised LCPL KIMBLE'S brother asked that we pick up some lumber from a shed on the property. CPL SILVERTHORN advised they picked up the lumber that day and left. CPL SILVERTHORN denied ever being in the residence itself at any time.

CPL SILVERTHORN was asked if LCPL KIMBLE, or anyone else in his family, ever owned a Chevrolet Camero. CPL SILVERTHORN advised LCPL KIMBLE'S wife owned a teal colored late model Camero. He advised he had driven in it before, but he could not recall the last time. He advised he never drove past LCPL KIMBLE'S sister-in-laws residence in the vehicle. CPL SILVERTHORN advised the KIMBLE'S sold that vehicle a while back, but could not recall when,

INVESTIGATIVE ACTION: RESULTS OF INTERVIEW, DZIADASZEK

On 19MAR97, following a request for assistance from Detective Jim CHURCH, Guilford County Sheriff's Office (GCS0), Greensboro, NC, PFC James Allen DZIADASZEK, USMC, 055-74-3911, was reinterviewed by Reporting Agent (RA) at NCISRA Camp Lejeune, NC, relative to his association with CPL Ronnie KIMBLE, USMC, 240-47-9667. It should be noted PFC DZIADASZEK was interviewed on two prior occasions (04-05MAR97) by Agents of NCIS, GCSO, and Agents of the NC state Bureau of Investigation (SBI). Det. CHURCH asked RA to confirm with PFC DZIADASZEK his prior comments to ensure their accuracy.

PFC DZIADASZEK confirmed all topics covered in his two original interviews were correct and accurate. He confirmed he is a friend and co-worker of CPL KIMBLE. He confirmed CPL KIMBLE has brought him to Greensboro on a few occasions, and he has stayed with him and his wife in their mobile home.

PFC DZIADASZEK confirmed CPL KIMBLE has discussed the homicide investigation with him briefly, and confirmed the following topics discussed with CPL KIMBLE: CPL KIMBLE was concerned and upset with the fact he placed a gasoline receipt in CPL KIMBLE's brother's truck the day of the murder. He (KIMBLE) feared Det. CHURCH would believe the gas purchase might have been used to start the fire in his brother's house, versus to fill up his brother's vehicle. He (KIMBLE) believes that makes him an automatic suspect.  He (DZIADASZEK) also confirmed CPL KIMBLE spoke of a lady in Greensboro who claims to have seen him the day of the homicide at 18:20 by his brother's residence. CPL KIMBLE denied that to PFC DZIADASZEK, who stated during his first interviewed that CPL KIMBLE told him he dropped off his brother's truck at the residence and picked up his (KIMBLE'S) personal vehicle (Camero), at 16:00, not 18:20.

PFC DZIADASZEK confirmed he spoke with CPL KIMBLE following the 04MAR97 interview, and told him what he disclosed to investigators. PFC DZIADASZEK confirmed CPL KIMBLE became upset when he told him he informed investigators he (CPL KIMBLE) dropped his brother's truck off at his brother's residence at 16:00, stating, "What are your trying to do, get me convicted?" PFC DZIADASZEK confirmed CPL KIMBLE then explained to him that he said he dropped the truck off at his brother's business at 16:00, not at the residence, and that the lady saw him at the business at 18:20, not at the residence. PFC DZIADASZEK further reported, even though CPL KIMBLE tried to explain the time difference, he still recalled being originally told by CPL KIMBLE that he (CPL KIMBLE) dropped the truck off at his (CPL KIMBLE'S) brother's house, not business, at 16:00.

PFC DZIADASZEK confirmed, although he and CPL KIMBLE are friends,

and have talked of the murder, and he (CPL KIMBLE) realizes he is a potential suspect, he (CPL KIMBLE) has never told him (PFC DZIADASZEK) he did not commit the murder. At the same time, PFC DZIADASZEK said CPL KIMBLE has never admitted he committed the murder either. However, when asked, PFC DZIADASZEK opined CPL KIMBLE never would confide in him if he had murdered his sister-in-law. He opined, since CPL KIMBLE preaches about Jesus Christ to him, he feels for CPL KIMBLE to confide in him and tell him he killed his sister-in-law, in his eyes, and CPL KIMBLE'S, it would be hypocritical.

PFC DZIADASZEK reported he was last at CPL KIMBLE'S residence this past weekend, 15MAR97. He advised he went to visit his girlfriend Sherry Wilson, who lives with CPL KIMBLE'S wife. PFC DZIADASZEK advised the weekend was uneventful, except he reported CPL KIMBLE'S father brought him (CPL KIMBLE) and his wife to visit a lawyer regarding the homicide. PFC DZIADASZEK advised when CPL KIMBLE came back from the lawyer's office, he told him the attorney advised that no one involved in the investigation had to answer questions that were irrelevant to the case. PFC DZIADASZEK was unable to explain what that meant, but admitted that included him, not only CPL KIMBLE and his family, but anyone questioned by investigators. PFC DZIADASZEK reported this did not affect his decision to talk with investigators, and he is willing to continue to cooperate with law enforcement officials.

PFC DZIADASZEK advised he recalled one other conversation he had with CPL KIMBLE which involved a potential suspect in the case. He advised CPL KIMBLE told him he (CPL KIMBLE) was at the house two days after the homicide with family trying to salvage what was left of the house. PFC DZIADASZEK was unable to say for sure who was with CPL KIMBLE, but assumed it was his brother and parents, and maybe the parents of Patricia KIMBLE. CPL KIMBLE told him, while they were in the house, a black male walked in unannounced and began to ask alot of strange questions as to what happened in the house. CPL KIMBLE told him they gave this information to police, but they do not know if anything was done about it.

PFC DZIADASZEK was unable to provide any further pertinent information and the interview was terminated.

Cal MCFARLAND indicated he was familiar with Cpl KIMBLE prior to KIMBLE's transfer to the Base Chaplain's Office, but they were not close friends. CPL MCFARLAND stated he knew Col KIMBLE was having problems with his wife at the time, but he could not recall any specific details. Cpl MCFARLAND related Cpl KIMBLE used to reside in the same apartment complex as he did. Cpl MCFARLAND identified that apartment complex as the one in Swansboro, NC, located off of Highway 24 behind the GANT gas station. Cpl MCFARLAND recalled Cpl KIMBLE and his wife lived in those apartments for about one year. According to Cpl MCFARLAND, after Cal KIMBLE was transferred to the Base Chaplain's Office, they did not see each other.

Col MCFARLAND stated approximately three weeks prior to this interview, he saw Cpl KIMBLE and spoke with him. Cpl MCFARLAND advised KIMBLE pulled in behind him as he was driving in his vehicle on Highway 24 through Swansboro. Cpl MCFARLAND related Cpl KIMBLE followed him into his apartment complex, and then spoke with him briefly outside the vehicles. Cpl MCFARLAND stated Cpl KIMBLE asked him if NCIS had come to see him, and he told KIMBLE no. According to Cpl MCFARLAND, Cpl KIMBLE told him his sister-in-law had been murdered, and NCIS was talking to Marines who knew KIMBLE about the murder, Cpl MCFARLAND noted Cpl KIMBLE said be was pissed off because NCIS was trying to say he committed the murder. Cpl MCFARLAND related Cpl KIMBLE did not say how his sister-in-law had been murdered. Cal MCFARLAND advised that was the extent of his conversation with Cpl KIMBLE. The only other information he recalled was Cpl KIMBLE telling him that a LCpl SILVERTHORN had been questioned about the murder, and had taken a polygraph examination. Cpl MCFARLAND provided no additional information pertinent to this investigation during this interview.
