Gentlemen:

Your firm was recommended to me by R. S. Smith of the Greensboro Fire Department.

I and my colleague, David Lloyd, are representing Ronnie Kimble, a young former marine with no criminal record who is charged with first degree murder in Greensboro.

The alleged victim died on October 9, 1995 from a gunshot wound to the head. Apparently after the shooting gasoline or some other petroleum product was used to burn the body. We are in need of expert analysis of the circumstances for testimony at trial.

Our client has been denied bond. The court has approved a limited budget for investigative services. If you are in a position to assist us, we would like to meet with one of your people some time when they may be in Greensboro on other business.

Please call me if you are interested.

Very truly yours,

John B. Hatfield, Jr.
