SA H. G. Pendergrass was interviewed at the Greensboro SBI Office on Monday, November 4, 1996, at 10 a.m., by Criminal, Specialist T. C. Childrey, at which time SA Pendergrass related the following:
 

SA Pendergrass stated he was currently investigating a homicide investigation in which Patricia Gail Kimble was the victim. Further, that he, SA Pendergrass, along with Guilford County Detective Jim Church, was traveling to the United States Marine Corps Base at Camp Lejuene in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on Wednesday, November 6, 1996, to interview Marine Neil Donald Silverthorn, white male.
 

Further, the purpose of this interview was that SA Pendergrass was to determine if Silverthorn had any knowledge of the murder of Patricia Gail Kimble. Kimble has a brother-in-law by the name of Ronnie Lee Kimble who is a marine stationed at Camp Lejuene and is a close friend of Silverthorn's.
SA Pendergrass requested that Criminal Specialist Childrey travel to Junction City, Kentucky, and meet with Investigator Don Gilliam of the Kentucky State Police and conduct interviews with Donna Weiant, the mother of Neil Silverthorn, and any other members of the family that might give information about Silverthorn's whereabouts on October 9, 1995, the date of the murder.
