Guilford County Sheriff's Department
Supplemental Report

1. Incident Number: 951009027
2. Victim's Name: PATRICIA GAIL KIMBLE
3. Day/Date/Time of Report: 03APRIL97 0930 HRS.

4. Narrative: ON 31MARCH97 THIS DETECTIVE, DET. McBRIDE, AGENT PENDERGRASS AND AGENT CHILDREY DROVE TO JACKSONVILLE, N.C. TO SPEND THE NIGHT AND PICK UP RONNIE KIMBLE ON 01APRIL97. I HAD IN MY POSSESSION A WARRANT FOR THE ARREST OF RONNIE LEE KIMBLE FOR FIRST DEGREE MURDER.

ON ARRIVAL IN JACKSONVILLE I ADVISED THE SAID SBI AGENTS THAT DET. McBRIDE AND I WERE GOING TO DRIVE ON OVER TO CAMP LEJEUNE MCB AND MEET WITH NCIS AGENT SAM WORTH AND LET HIM KNOW WE WERE THERE AND WOULD BE NEEDING HIS ASSISTANCE THE NEXT DAY WITH RONNIE KIMBLE. I ADVISED AGENT WORTH THAT I NEEDED HIM TO PICK UP RONNIE KIMBLE ON 01APRIL97 WHEN HE ARRIVED AT HIS DUTY STATION AND TRANSPORT HIM T0 THE NCIS OFFICE FOR ME. I FURTHER ADVISED HIM THAT WHEN HE HAD RONNIE IN CUSTODY TO GIVE ME A CALL AT THE LOCATION I WOULD BE STAYING AND LET ME KNOW AND I WOULD DRIVE OVER TO HIS OFFICE AT THAT TIME.

ON TUESDAY 01APRIL97 AT APPROXIMATELY 0820 HRS. AGENT WORTH CALLED ME AND ADVISED THAT RONNIE KIMBLE WAS IN CUSTODY. DET. McBRIDE AND I DROVE TO THE NCIS OFFICE ON CAMP LEJEUNE MCB WITH SBI AGENTS FOLLOWING. WE ARRIVED AT APPROXIMATELY 0940 HRS.

AGENTS WORTH AND REUWER WERE WITH KIMBLE IN AGENT WORTHS OFFICE. AT 1015HRS. AGENT PENDERGRASS AND I WENT INTO AGNET WORTHS OFFICE AND I GREETED RONNIE KIMBLE. I ADVISED HIM WHY I WAS THERE AND THAT I WOULD BE TRANSPORTING HIM BACK TO GUILFORD COUNTY. I TOLD RONNIE THAT I WANTED TO TELL HIM SOMETHING AND I WANTED HIM TO LISTEN, BUT THAT I DID NOT WANT TO ASK HIM ANY QUESTIONS. RONNIE ASKED ME IF HE HAD TO LISTEN TO ME AND I TOLD HIM THAT HE DID NOT HAVE TO BUT THAT I THOUGHT THAT HE SHOULD BECAUSE I THOUGHT HE OWED IT TO HIMSELF, HIS WIFE, THE KIMBLE FAMILY, THE BLAKELY FAMILY AND TO ME, TO LISTEN TO WHAT I HAD TO SAY. RONNIE ALSO ASKED IF I DIDN'T WANT TO TELL WHAT EVER I HAD TO TELL TO AN ATTORNEY AND I TOLD HIM THAT I DIDN'T WANT TO TALK TO AN ATTORNEY OR TELL AN ATTORNEY ANYTHING, THAT I WANTED TO TELL HIM WHAT I THOUGHT HE SHOULD KNOW AT THE TIME. (((( RONNIE NEVER TOLD ME NOT TO TELL HIM ANYTHING OR THAT HE DID NOT WANT TO LISTEN TO ANYTHING I HAD TO TELL HIM))))

RONNIE SIT IN A CHAIR IN AGENT WORTHS OFFICE AND LISTENED TO ME FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE AND ONE HALF HOURS. DURING THIS TIME RONNIE ASKED FOR CUPS OF WATER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS GIVEN SAME. RONNIE ASKED TO GO TO FEE REST ROOM TWICE DURING THE TIME AND WAS ALLOWED TO DO SO ACCOMPANIED BY NCIS REUWER. THESE TWO TIMES OUT OF THE ROOM WERE APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES FIRST TIME AND 20 MINUTES THE SECOND TIME. THERE WERE
AROUND TELELPHONE CALLS THAT COME INTO AGENT WORTHS OFFICE DURING MIS TIME ALSO THAT CAUSED BREIF INTERUPTIONS.

I TOLD RONNIE WHAT I THOUGHT HE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE CASE AT THAT TIME AND INFORMED HIM THAT HE KNEW WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I KNEW WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THAT GOD IN HEAVEN KNEW WHAT HAD HAPPENED ON 090CT95. I

AChurch refused Ronnie legal counsel.  My father higher Ronnie a lawyer and the lawyer called down there but the detectives refused him.

176

TOLD RONNIE THAT HE SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING ABOUT THE DEATH OF PATRICIA KIMBLE AND STAND UP AND BE A MAN OF HONOR ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND TELL THE TRUTH. I TOLD HIM SEVERAL TIMES THAT IF HE WERE TO TALK TO ME THAT HE SHOULD TELL THE TRUTH. I MADE A PLEA WITH RONNIE AND TOLD HIM OF BIBLE SCRIPTURE THAT SAID THAT ONE SHOULD CONFESS THEIR SINS IN PUBLIC. I ALSO MADE IT CLEAR THAT I DID NOT WANT TO GET INTO BIBLEA
SCRIPTURE OR VERSES WITH HIM, BUT ONLY WANTED HIM TO KNOW THAT EVERYONE HAD TO COME TO TERMS WITH THEMSELVES AT ONE POINT IN THEIR LIFE EVEN IF IT WAS ON THEIR DEATH BED AND TAKING THEIR LAST BREATH. RONNIE INTERRUPTED ME AT ONE POINT AND ASKED "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO TELL YOU"., AND AGAIN I TOLD HIM IF HE WANTED TO TELL ME ANYTHING TO. TELL ME THE TRUTH ABOUT PATRICIAS DEATH. RONNIE ALSO STATED THAT HE HAD SPOKEN TO DET. SGT. DeBERRY, NCIS AGENT MUNROE AND ALSO TO ME AND THAT HE HAD NOTHING TO ADD TO WHAT HE HAD ALREADY SAID. I ALSO TOLD RONNIE THAT IF I DID FIND OUT LATER THAT ANYONE ASSISTED HIM IN SURPRESSING INFORMATION OR DETAILS ABOUT THE MURDER OF PATRICIA THAT I WOULD CHARGE THEM IF I COULD.

WE WERE ALSO INTERRUPTED AT ONE POINT WHEN RONNIE WAS ALLOWED TO SIGN FOR HIS LAST PAYCHECK FROM THE MARINE CORPS.

I SHOWED RONNIE THE WARRANT FOR MURDER ON HIM AND EXPLAINED THE CHARGES TO HIM AND ADVISED HIM THAT HE WOULD RECEIVE THE PINK COPY AT THE TIME HE WAS SERVED.

AT NO TIME DID RONNIE SAY THAT HE DID NOT KILL PATRICIA BUT DID SAY AT ONE POINT THAT HE DIDN'T DO IT, BUT DID NOT SAY WHAT HE DID NOT DO. AT NO POINT DID RONNIE ASK FOR AN ATTORNEY, AND AT NO TIME DID I ASK RONNIE ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL ABOUT THE MURDER OF PATRICIA KIMBLE.

RONNIE ASKED TO USE THE TELEPHONE AND I TOLD HIM THAT HE COULD NOT USE THE PHONE AT THAT TIME BUT THAT HE COULD CALL ANYONE HE WISHED TO WHEN WE GOT TO GUILFORD COUNTY. I ASKED RONNIE IF HE PREFERRED TO GO TO A MAGISTRATE IN ONSLOW COUNTY OR GUILFORD COUNTY. RONNIE SAID THAT HE PREFERRED TO GO TO GUILFORD COUNTY TO BE SERVED AND GO BEFORE A MAJISTRATE.

THERE WAS ALSO SOME DOWNTIME WHILE WAITING ON STAFF JUDGE ADVOCATE OFFICE ATTORNEY TO BRING THE PROPER PAPERWORK TO THE NCIS OFFICE. CAPTAIN ELIZABETH ANN MARTINEAU, ATTORNEY FOR THE MARINE CORPS CONDUCTED AND EXPALINED THE EXTRADITION PROCEEDURE TO RONNIE KIMBLE WHO SUBSEQUENTLY AGREED TO WAIVE AND SIGN THE EXTRIDITION OVER TO DET. CHURCH TO BE RETURNED TO GUILFORD COUNTY TO ANSWER THE CHARGES OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER.

I ASKED RONNIE WHAT HE WANTED FOR LUNCH THAT DET. McBRIDE AND I WERE GOING TO EAT BEFORE WE LEFT CAMP LEJEUNE. I TOLD RONNIE THAT WE WERE GOING TO EAT AT THE BURGER KING ON BASE AND THAT WE WOULD BRING HIM SOMETHING. I BROUGHT HIM A WHOPPER, FRIES AND LARGE DRINK FROM THE ON BASE BURGER KING.

RONNIE WAS PLACED IN RESTRAINTS ON THE HANDS AND FEET AND PLACED IN MY COUNTY VEHICLE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO GUILFORD COUNTY. I DROVE AND DET. McBRIDE RODE IN THE REAR SEAT BEHIND RONNIE. WE LEFT CAMP LEJEUNE MCB AT 1435 HRS.B

WHILE IN ROUTE TO GUILFORD COUNTY RONNIE FELL ASLEEP SEVERAL TIMES. I STOPPED FOR GASOLINE DURING THE TRIP BACK AND BOUGHT RONNIE A MOUNTAIN DEW SOFT DRINK THAT HE ASKED FOR. I ALSO STOPPED AT THE EFLAND EXIT FOR RONNIE TO USE THE RESTROOM AT HIS REQUEST. WE WERE DETAINED IN THE RALEIGH AREA FOR APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES DUE TO A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. WE ARRIVED AT THE GUILFORD COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AT 1845HRS. THE GASOLINE STOP WAS AT 1650 HRS. IN DURHAM.

ARonnie must have quoted scripture back at him.  Church claims to know the Lord, but Satan knows God also.  (HA)

BNote how many hours the interogated him, but never ask any questions.

177

ON ARRIVAL AT THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT IN GUILFORD COUNTY I OBSERVEDA SEVERAL NEWS PEOPLE IN THE UNDERGROUND PARKING AREA AND I ADVISED DET. McBRIDE THAT I WOULD PULL UP TO THE DOOR LEADING UPSTAIRS TO MCIU AND FOR HIM TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND ESCORT RONNIE UP THE STEPS AS FAST AS POSSABLE.

ONCE UPSTAIRS RONNIE WAS PUT IN AN INTERVIEW ROOM AND THE DOOR LOCKED. I GOT MY PAPER WORK TOGETHER AND INFORMED MY SUPERVISORS THAT I HAD NOT ASKED RONNIE ANY QUESTIONS AND THAT I WOULD GIVE HIM THE OPERTUNITY TO MAKE A STATEMENT AT THAT POINT. DET. McBRIDE AND I WENT INTO THE INTERVIEW ROOM AND I SERVED THE WARRANT FOR ARREST ON RONNIE AND READ HIM HIS RIGHTS. RONNIE STATED THAT HE DID NOT WISH TO MAKE A STATEMENT AND REFUSED TO SIGN THE WAIVER.

DET. McBRIDE AND I THEN TOOK RONNIE BEFORE MAGISTRATE MACK WHO PLACED RONNIE IN THE GUILFORD COUNTY JAIL UNDER NO BOND.
