AFFIDAVIT OF
RONNIE
KIMBLE
Ronnie Kimble, being first duly sworn, deposes and says:
1. I am Ronnie Kimble and I was charged with murder in the first
degree on February 28, 1997.
2. I have been held without bond since April 1, 1997.
3. At the time of my arrest I was on active duty in the Marine
Corps. Since my arrest the Marine Corps is considering terminating
my active duty status.
4. I have no funds with which to retain legal counsel and I believe
that I am indigent within the meaning of the law.
5. At my first appearance on April 2, 1997, Judge E. Raymond
Alexander appointed counsel for me. At that time I and my family had
already discussed my case with John B. Hatfield, Jr., Attorney at
Law.
6. My wife's parents, James and Judy Stump, have retained John B.
Hatfield, Jr. to serve as additional counsel for me. By accepting
Mr. Hatfield as additional counsel, I in no way intend to waive my
constitutional right to appointed counsel based upon my indigency
status.
7. I respectfully request this honorable court to allow my court
appointed counsel to continue to represent me along with Mr.
Hatfield.
